Coach Anderson

I began teaching at Syracuse High School when the school first opened its doors in 2007.  Prior to joining the staff at Syracuse, I taught at Davis, Roy and Clearfield High Schools. At Syracuse, I currently teach Medical Anatomy and Physiology courses, and coach boy’s basketball.  Other courses I have taught at SHS in the past include Exercise Science and Sports Medicine and Introduction to Health Sciences.  My responsibilities also include Drivers Education, HOSA advisor and Department Head for Medical Science.

Me I was born in Salt Lake City and raised in Farmington.  I attended elementary and junior high school in Kaysville and graduated from Davis High School in 1982.  While attending Davis High School, I participated in football, basketball, baseball, and track.  As far back as I can remember my family raised and trained race horses in flat track and chariot racing (believe it or not, I once was a jockey).  I served an LDS mission to Columbus Ohio living in Columbus, Dayton and surrounding areas.  I spent 5 years as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for Farmington City.  My wife, Merilee, and I live in Farmington and have 3 children, and two beautiful daughters in law. Taylor & Ricki, Jaxson & Rachael, and my daughter Sydney.  We enjoy the outdoors, boating, wakeboarding, camping, riding 4-wheelers, snowboarding and mountain biking whenever we can get away.

I received my Bachelors Degree from the University of Utah in Exercise and Sport Science with a minor in Computer Science.  Later attended the University of Phoenix and received my Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Diverse Learning. I began teaching at Davis High School in 1994, taught math, body conditioning and lifetime activities, also coached football, basketball, baseball, softball and tennis.  I later moved to Roy High School, taught body conditioning and exercise science and sports medicine, coaching basketball and football.  I returned to the Davis School District and taught math at Clearfield High School and in 2007, moved to Syracuse High School!  I thoroughly enjoy teaching and love working with high school students. I am quite passionate about Anatomy & Physiology and really enjoy teaching the subject.
